Field Hockey Extends Win Streak

IN BRIEF: Wednesday afternoon's 3-2 win over Lebanon Valley marked the Susquehanna field hockey team's fifth victory of the fall as well as its fourth in a row.

RECORDS: Susquehanna stands at 5-1 overall while the Dutchmen are now 6-2.

WINNING START TO THE SEASON: Susquehanna's 5-1 start to the season is its best under head coach Kaitlyn Wahila and its best start since joining the Landmark Conference in 2007.

GAME WINNER: Taylor Franco scored what proved to be the game winner on a goal with less than 90 seconds remaining in regulation. Lebanon Valley never got another shot off before time expired.

: Prior to Franco's goal, the game had been tied two separate times. SU's Hunter Pitman tied the game at one late in the first half and her second-half goal tied the contest at two-all with just over 13 minutes to play in the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The River Hawks out-shot the Dutchmen 13-8 and put eight of those 13 shots on goal. SU took 10 penalty corners while limiting Lebanon Valley to three.

Pitman led all players with six shots while Emily Novakovich added four. Novakovich assisted on Susquehanna's first and final goals of the game and Tessa Woodring got credit for the assist on Pitman's second goal of the game. Starting goalie Morgan Ludlam tallied three saves.

WHAT'S NEXT: Susquehanna begins Landmark Conference play on Sept. 24 with a 1 p.m. game at No. 20 Catholic.
