Offense on Fire as Field Hockey Defeats Notre Dame of Maryland University

QUICK STORY: The Susquehanna field hockey team's offense was on fire as SU shut out the Notre Dame of Maryland University 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Baltimore, Maryland. 

RECORDS: Susquehanna improves to 8-2 on the season while Notre Dame falls to 1-8.

MULTIPLE GOALS: Hunter Pitman nabbed her second hat trick in two games with three of SU's nine goals. Kayla Johnson scored two goals on two shots. 

REMAINING GOALS: Raquel Ramos, Heather Casey, Taylor Franco and Jordan Burkepile accounted for the remaining four goals as each had a goal apiece. 

ASSISTS GOALORE: To go along with nine goals, the River Hawks tallied nine assists. Casey, Lauren Cram and Pitman all contributed two assists while Franco, Tessa Woodring and Burkepile accounted for the remaining three.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Eight of Susquehanna's nine goals came in the first half with Burkepile scoring the first in the 12th minute. Ramos scored the last goal at the 67:22 mark. SU out-shot Notre Dame 20-3 while taking 16 penalty corners to Notre Dame's four.

Morgan Ludlam, Courtney Purnell and Emily DiGaetano all saw time in the goal with Purnell making the only save of the day as the three combined for a shut-out.

WHAT'S NEXT? The River Hawks return to action on Saturday, October 8 as the team travels to the University of Scranton for a 1:00 p.m. game.
