TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna field hockey team swept the weekly Landmark Conference weekly awards. Freshman Hunter Pitman was named the Offensive Athlete of the Week and classmate Emily DiGaetano was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Against Juniata on Oct. 12, Pitman accounted for SU's lone goal in a 1-0 shutout of the Eagles. On Saturday, Pitman added one goal and one assist as the River Hawks blanked Drew 3-0.
This season, Pitman leads the team in goals (14) and points (31). She has four game-winning goals to her credit to tie for the team lead.
DiGaetano, meanwhile, went 2-0 in goal last week. She played all 70 minutes against Juniata and tallied five saves. Against Drew, DiGaetano played the first half and made one save to pick up her fifth win of the fall.
DiGaetano has started four of the seven games in which she has played and is 5-0 overall with two shutouts, a 0.22 goals-against average, 17 saves and a .944 save percentage.
With the two victories last week, Susquehanna is now 11-2 overall and 4-1 in Landmark games. The team returns to action on Monday, Oct. 17 with a 4 p.m. game at Keuka.
