Easy Win for SU Field Hockey on Senior Day

QUICK STORY: Senior Kayla Johnson scored a hat trick as the Susquehanna field hockey team defeated visiting Moravian College 9-0 on Senior Day.

RECORDS: SU improves to 14-3 and 5-2 in the Landmark Conference while Moravian drops to 0-16 with a 0-9 mark in Landmark action.

HAT TRICK: Johnson scored back-to-back goals for SU's second and third goals of the game at the 3:26 and 5:58 marks. Almost 13 minutes later, Johnson scored her third goal at the 18:50 mark.

GOALS GALORE: Four more players scored the remaining six goals with Cayla Spatz and Taylor Franco picked up two apiece while Hunter Pitman and Emily Novakovich scored one each. Spatz opened the game with a goal at the one-minute mark while Novakovich scored the last with just under eight minutes remaining in the game.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: The River Hawks out-shot the Greyhounds 32-3 with 25 of those shots coming in the first half. SU totaled 13 penalty corners to Moravian's one. Pitman led all players in shots with nine while Novakovich tallied eight. Spatz, Franco and Johnson took five each. Spatz and Novakovich added two assists while Lauren Cram, Pitman and Franco had one apiece.

Senior goalie Morgan Ludlam made three saves in her 70 minutes of work.

DID YOU KNOW? This is Susquehanna's sixth shut-out of the season and the winningest season Kaitlyn Wahila has had since taking over the head coach position in 2010.

THE LAST TIME…the last time Susquehanna scored nine goals in a single game was in 2010 when the team defeated Elmira 9-0.

SENIORS: Prior to the start of the game, Susquehanna honored the six senior members of the team: Megan McClellan, Lauren Cram, Johnson, Novakovich, Tessa Woodring and Ludlam.

LANDMARK CONFERENCE: The River Hawks finished third in the Landmark Conference and travel to No. 2 Catholic on Tuesday, November 2 for a 7:00 p.m. Landmark Conference semifinal game.
