Pitman Named 2016 Landmark Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Year

TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna freshman field hockey player Hunter Pitman has been named the 2016 Landmark Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Year.

Pitman is only the second-ever SU player to be named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year; Ally Bradley '13 earned the honor in 2009.

Pitman started 17 of 19 games this fall and led the team in goals (22) and points (51) while adding seven assists for third-best on the team. She had five game-winning goals which tied for the team lead.

Her 51 points are second-most in single season history and her 22 goals tie for her the single season record at SU.

The River Hawks finished the year with a 15-4 overall record, including a 5-2 mark in Landmark games. The 15 wins are the most-ever for the program since joining the Landmark in 2007. SU earned the No. 3 seed in the Landmark Tournament and went on to defeat No. 2 seed Catholic before falling at No. 1 seed Elizabethtown in double overtime on Nov. 5.
