The Week Ahead in SU Sports

Week of: Jan. 9-15, 2012

Men’s Basketball: SU travels to Catholic on Friday to take on the Cardinals, who hold an 11-3, 1-2 record. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. Livestats for that contest can be found here. Video for the game can be accessed here.

On Saturday, the Crusaders play Goucher in another Landmark matchup. The Gophers find themselves with a 3-10, 0-3 mark entering the weekend. Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m. Livestats for that game can be found here and video for the contest can be accessed here.

The Crusaders (7-5, 2-1) went 3-0 this past week, including wins over Landmark Conference opponents Drew (W, 83-77) and Merchant Marine (W, 73-72 OT). Spenser Spencer (Seattle, Wash. / Lakeside) scored 27 points against Drew. Harley Sellinger (Mill Hall, Pa. / Central Mountain) recorded the game-winning bucket with two seconds on the clock in overtime against USMMA.

Women’s Basketball: The Crusaders play at Catholic on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Cardinals have a 10-3, 2-1 record. Livestats for the game can be found here.  Video for the contest can be accessed here.

On Saturday, SU plays at Goucher in another conference game. The Gophers are 3-10,0-3 this season. Tipoff is at 4:00 p.m. Livestats for that game can be found here. Video for the game can be accessed here.

SU (4-10, 1-2) went 1-2 this past week, earning a conference victory over Drew (W, 62-59). Korey McCaffrey (Millheim, Pa. / Penns Valley Area) had the hot hand in both Landmark Conference contests, scoring 22 points against Drew and 15 points against Merchant Marine.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming: SU hosts Messiah in their first home meet since Nov. 5. Start time for the meet is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13. This is their second to last home meet, with the last coming against Drew and Juniata on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2:00 p.m.

Both the men’s and women’s programs traveled to Tampa, Fla. on their annual training trip over the New Year.
