Catching Up With…Harley Sellinger

This marks the inaugural “Catching Up With…” feature on GoSusQu.com. Every week, the Susquehanna Athletic Communications office will introduce Crusader fans to a student-athlete, coach or athletic administrator to learn a little bit more about the people who make Crusader athletics what it is. This week, sophomore men’s basketball player Harley Sellinger fills fans in his major, athletic goals and more.

Name:
Harley Sellinger
Sport: Men’s Basketball
Class: 2014
Major: Spanish Secondary Education
Birthday: April 11, 1992

Why did you choose your major?
I have always liked languages and decided that Spanish would be the most useful.

What has been your favorite class so far?

I would have to say my Spanish class last year with Mar.

Have you studied abroad? If so, when and where and what was your favorite memory or experience from your time abroad?
Not yet. I’m planning on studying abroad in Alicante, Spain for the 2012 fall semester.

What are your plans after graduation?
I would like to get a teaching job somewhere and eventually become a translator.

What is your favorite athletic memory as a Crusader?
Winning Rookie of the Year in the Landmark Conference last year.

What is your nickname on your team?
They call me Big Country.

What are your goals for the season, both individually and as a team?

My own goal is to average a double-double in points and rebounds. As a team our goals are to come in first in the Conference and do work in playoffs.

My favorite midnight snack is…

Deer bologna.

Do you have any unique talents/hobbies?
I got a lot of hobbies: hunting, fishing, golfing, I collect decks of cards and records. Also like to go on mountain rides and go mudding.

Something people may not know about me is…
That I work for a carnival. So yes, I am what you call a carnie.
