SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna’s men’s basketball senior guard Spenser Spencer (Seattle, Wash. / Lakeside) has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, announced on Monday.
Spencer helped lead the Crusaders (11-6, 5-2) to two crucial league victories over the weekend, handing Scranton its first conference loss (W, 77-63) and narrowly defeating Moravian 66-65.
Against the Royals, he poured in 33 points on 11-of-17 shooting, including two four-point plays. Versus the Greyhounds, Spencer scored 16 points and his free throws in the final seconds proved to be the game winners.
For the weekend, Spencer averaged 24.5 ppg to go along with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals while playing a total of 65 minutes. He shot 50 percent from the field, 42 percent from downtown and 90 percent from the charity stripe.
Spencer now has 1,377 career points, holding sole possession of eighth place on SU’s list of all-time scorers. He needs nine points to tie Frank Romano ’57 for seventh place all-time in career scoring.
SU will look to continue its winning streak, traveling to Merchant Marine on Friday and playing at Drew on Saturday.
