The Week Ahead in SU Sports

Week of: Feb. 6 – 12

Men's Basketball:  The Crusaders (12-9, 6-5) are coming off a tough weekend, dropping two Landmark Conference games on the road at Moravian (L, 68-64) and Scranton (L, 74-71).

This Friday, Feb. 10, they host Goucher (4-17, 1-10) at 7:30 p.m. SU won the first meeting this season on Jan.  14, posting a 77-74 win. Four Crusaders scored in double figures and Mike Perillo (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) dished out 12 assists in the victory. Livestats for the game can be found here. On Saturday, Feb. 11, Catholic (16-6, 6-5) visits O.W. Houts Gym for a 4:00 p.m tipoff on Pepsi Day. The Cardinals won the first matchup this year, 77-64. In honor of Pepsi Day, free hot dogs and Pepsi beverages will be available to all fans.

Women's Basketball: SU (4-18, 1-10) will look to avenge an overtime loss to Goucher earlier this season when the team hosts the Gophers (5-17, 1-10) on Friday, Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m. Korey McCaffrey (Millheim, Pa. / Penns Valley Area) and Eleni Dimou (Center Valley, Pa. / Southern Lehigh) finished in double-figures in the first matchup, posting 16 and 13 points, respectively. On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Crusaders host Catholic (18-4, 9-2,) a team that defeated SU earlier this season 65-42. Again, Saturday marks Pepsi Day and fans at the women's game will enjoy free hot dogs and Pepsi beverages.

Swimming: Both the men's and women's teams had the past week off to prepare for this weekend's Landmark Conference Championships from Feb. 10-12 at Marywood. The women enter the Championships as defending champions while the men were runners-up one year ago.

Track & Field:  Men's and women's track & field will be competing in the Susquehanna Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 12 starting at 10:00 a.m.

Both teams are coming off impressive showings on Friday at the Crusader Classic. Ken Schetroma (Elysburg, Pa. / Southern Columbia) placed second in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 15.23m. Chance King (Newburgh, N.Y. / Newburgh Free Academy) won the 400m dash with a p.r. of 52.22.

Jess Ranck (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) won first place in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 12.68m. Laura Alleva (Malvern, Pa. / Great Valley) won the 800m run with a time of 2:29.76.
