SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are represented in this week’s SAAC Super Crusaders of the Week as junior forward Gina Palazzi (Newfoundland, Pa. / Wallenpaupack) and sophomore center Harley Sellinger (Mill Hall, Pa. / Central Mountain) were honored for the week ending Nov. 20.
Palazzi started all three games for the Crusaders in the opening week of the 2011-12 campaign, helping the team to a 2-1 record. She scored 41 points (12.3 ppg), grabbed 23 rebounds (7.7 rpg), dished out seven assists and had five steals.
Against the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown (L, 61-47) she finished with a team-high 15 points and had seven rebounds in 32 minutes of action. She shot 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.
In the 2011 Pepsi/Weis Markets Tipoff Tournament opener versus Penn College (W, 99-49), Palazzi scored 10 points (5-of-8 from the field), had seven boards, two assists and three steals in only 14 minutes of play.
In the championship game against Fredonia State (W, 77-72), she scored 12 points (5-of-8 FG; 2-of-3 FT), pulled down a team-best nine rebounds (four offensive), dished out five assists and had two steals in 22 minutes en route to being named the tournament MVP.
Palazzi leads the team in scoring and rebounding and is shooting 50 percent from the field.
In the home opener for the men’s team against New Jersey City (L, 68-64), Sellinger started and scored 15 points (5-of-10 FG; 5-of-9 FT) and grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds (three offensive). He also had one assist, one block and one steal in 32 minutes of action.
On Tuesday, the women host Lebanon Valley and the men travel to Williamsport to take on Lycoming. Both games start at 7:00 p.m.
