TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna men’s basketball freshman guard Brandon Hedley (Silver Spring, Md. / Salisbury Prep) has been named the 2012-13 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year, announced Tuesday.
Hedley led SU in scoring with 284 points (14.2 ppg) and led the team with 67 made three pointers (67-of-160; 41.9 percent).
He was the team’s highest scorer in 11 of his 20 games played as he started 17 contests and played the most minutes (670 total, 33.5 mpg).
Among Landmark Conference players, Hedley was second in three-pointers made, third in three-point percentage, sixth in assists (74), seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6) and eighth in scoring.
Hedley becomes the third Crusader in the last four seasons to be
named Rookie of Year under head coach Frank
Marcinek as Harvey Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn. /
St. Thomas More) and Harley Sellinger (Mill Hall,
Pa. / Central Mountain) were named 2009-10 and 2010-11
Rookies of the Year, respectively.
Hedley and the Crusaders finished 2012-13 with a 9-16 record and a 5-9 mark in the Landmark.
