Men’s Basketball Slated to Finish Third in Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna men’s basketball team has been picked to finish tied for third in the 2012-13 Landmark Conference preseason poll, released Thursday.

The Crusaders (15-10, 9-5 in 2011-12) received 38 points, tied with Catholic. Scranton (62 points) was picked to repeat as conference champions, followed by Juniata with 44 points.

Merchant Marine garnered 28 points followed by Moravian (26). Drew and Goucher rounded out the poll, receiving 10 points each.

SU returns four starters from a season ago, including point guard Mike Perillo (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel), forward J.T. Wilson (Sparta, N.J. / Pope John XXIII Regional), and former Rookies of the Year in Harvey Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn. / St. Thomas More) and Harley Sellinger (Mill Hall, Pa. / Central Mountain).

The Crusaders open the 2012-13 campaign by hosting the Pepsi Tip-Off Tournament this weekend beginning with a contest against Penn College on Friday at 8 p.m.
