The Week Ahead in SU Sports

Week of: Dec. 10-17

Men’s Basketball: SU (3-6) travels to New Jersey City University (2-6) on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. Live stats can be found here.

Last season, the Crusaders fell to NJCU, 68-64. Jake Eskin (Germantown, Md. / Churchill) had eight points, five boards and four assists against the Gothic Knights.

This past week, SU defeated Misericordia 61-56 for the team’s first road win of 2012-13. Freshman Spencer Ortmyer (York, Pa. / Central York) scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Crusaders rallied from 11 points down to defeat the Cougars.

Over the weekend SU competed in the PNC Bank Monarch Classic where the squad fell to Wilkes on Friday night, 73-63, before defeating host King’s (Pa.) 69-63 in overtime. Josh Miller (Strasburg, Pa. / Lampter-Strasburg) scored a game-high 16 points off the bench and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Women’s Basketball: SU (2-6) hosts Pitt-Bradford (3-3) on Monday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. Live stats can be found here. This marks the first meeting between the programs since the 1997-98 season.

This past week, the Crusaders defeated Penn State Hazleton 75-44 on Wednesday before falling to Wilkes 62-50 on Saturday.

Against the Nittany Lions, freshman Catherine Malatack (Narberth, Pa. / Archbishop Carroll) scored a game-high 14 points behind 5-of-7 shooting.

Gina Palazzi (Newfoundland, Pa. / Wallenpaupack Area) pulled down a game-high and career best 18 boards against the Lady Colonels.
