SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Men’s basketball and women’s track are represented as the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the period ending Feb. 16 as senior Harley Sellinger (Mill Hall, Pa. / Central Mountain) and sophomore Ashley West (East Hampton, N.Y. / East Hampton) have been recognized.
Sellinger helped lead the Crusaders (14-9, 6-6 Landmark) to a pair of crucial league victories this past week, beating Catholic 73-67 on Wednesday and Moravian 91-86 on Saturday. Starting both contests, Sellinger shot 82.1 percent (23-for-28) from the field while averaging 24.0 ppg and 11.5 rpg.
At Catholic, Sellinger played 35 minutes and scored 25 points (12-of-16) and grabbed 15 rebounds. Versus Moravian, the center finished with 23 points (11-of-12) and recorded eight boards. Sellinger currently leads the Landmark in rebounds per game (9.9) and field goal percentage (64.9).
With two games remaining on the regular season schedule, Sellinger is now only 27 points away from 1,000 for his career. He currently ranks ninth all-time in rebounds (646), sixth all-time in blocks (78) and has 16 career double-doubles.
Sellinger, along with three of his classmates, will be honored in a pre-game ceremony for Senior Night before Wednesday’s game against Juniata at 7 p.m.
West, meanwhile, won the mile at Friday’s SU Invitational with a conference-best time of 5:08.73, also a PR and second-fastest mark in SU history.
The sophomore went on to anchor the women’s 4 x 400, running a 58.96 split, as the Crusaders made up five places to win the event in 4:21.84.
West currently ranks eighth in all of Division III in the 800m and holds the top marks in the 800m and mile within the Landmark.
West and the Crusaders host the SU Open on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m., the final tune-up before hosting the Landmark Conference Championships on March 1.
