Susquehanna Men’s Basketball Picked Fifth in Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna men’s basketball team has been predicted to finish fifth in the 2013-14 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, released Tuesday.

The Crusaders (9-16, 5-9 Landmark in 2012-13) received 24 points. Scranton was picked to win the league, earning 59 points and four first-place votes, followed by Juniata with 47 points and two first-place tallies.

Catholic was selected third with 43 points and Merchant Marine Academy was picked in fourth place, earning 42 points along with two first-place votes. Drew, Moravian and Goucher closed out the poll with 19, 15 and seven points respectively.

Under the guidance of 25th-year head coach Frank Marcinek, SU returns four seniors and the reigning Rookie of the Year Brandon Hedley (Silver Spring, Md. / Salisbury Prep.), who averaged 14.2 ppg in his first season for the Crusaders.

SU begins the campaign on Tuesday, November 19 at Lycoming at 5 p.m. before hosting the 24th-annual Pepsi Tipoff Tournament Nov. 22-23.
