Hedley Sets Record on Senior Day Win for Men

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior guard Brandon Hedley (Silver Spring, Md./Salisbury Prep) drained a program-record 10 three-pointers in the Susquehanna men's basketball team's 85-64 home win against Elizabethtown (8-16, 6-10).

The game, which marked Senior Day for the program, was the final regular season game of the season for the Crusaders (19-6, 12-4), who travel to No. 2 seed Scranton on Wednesday for a Landmark Conference semifinal matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Hedley finished with 30 points and went 10-of-16 from beyond the arc. His 10 threes surpass the previous record of nine, held by Matt Heimbach who went 9-for-10 against Wesley in 1994.

Hedley was one of five Crusaders in double figures. Steven Weidlich (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills) added 18 points and seven rebounds while Ryan Traub (Flanders, N.J./Mt. Olive) had 13 points and tied for the game high in rebounds with eight. Josh Miller (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) and Jason Dietrich (Maytown, Pa./Kutztown) each had 10 points; Dietrich also had eight rebounds.

Hedley and Miller both had six assists and Traub added a game-high five blocks.

The game opened with a trey from Hedley just 40 seconds into the action. A three from Weidlich put SU up by five (12-7) after five minutes of play and the Crusaders took a double-digit lead (21-10) on yet another Hedley three at the 11:38 mark of the half.

It was a 15-point Susquehanna lead after Hedley's three with 3:03 remaining in the half and SU took a 37-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Five minutes into the second half, the Blue Jays closed the gap to nine (44-35) before Weidlich immediately countered with a three to up the lead back to double digits (47-35) with 14:48 to play.

Traub's layup at the 10:32 mark made it a 56-41 game and Hedley's ninth three of the game kept it a 15-point game, 69-54, with five minutes to play.

Hedley's record-setting three came just over two minutes later as his trey made it an 81-61 game and put the game out of reach.

Prior to the start of the game, senior co-captain Matt McGugan (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) was honored in the team's Senior Day ceremony.
