SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna junior men's basketball player Steven Weidlich and freshman women's swimmer Katie Willis have been named Susquehanna's SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders for the week ending December 6.
Weidlich started both games and logged 36 minutes per game as SU went 2-0 in conference play to remain undefeated on the season (7-0). He averaged 19.5 points per game, including 26 against USMMA. He shot 44 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from behind the arch and 78.6 percent at the free throw line. Weidlich also averaged four rebounds, two assists and one steal per game.
This season, Weidlich has started all seven games and is averaging 16.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 30.4 minutes per game. Overall he is shooting 39.5 percent from the floor, 31.3 percent from the three-point range and 79.5 percent from the line. He has 14 assists to 11 turnovers and is second on the team with seven steals.
The Crusaders are 7-0 on the year with a 2-0 mark in conference games.
Willis set the school record in the 100 yard freestyle with her time of 52.75 at the Gettysburg Invitational this past weekend. She also finished third in the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.94) while setting a PR and moving into fourth all-time in the SU record book. Willis competed in four total events over the two days with two top-three finishes.
The men's basketball team returns to action on Friday, Dec. 11 at King's College as the team faces Trinity (Conn.) in the first round of the First National Community Bank/Monarch Classic at 6 p.m.
The men and women's swimming and diving teams return to competition when they take their annual winter break trip to Tampa in January.
