TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna junior Steven Weidlich is the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the period ending Dec. 6, announced Monday.
Weidlich started both games and logged 36 minutes per game as SU went 2-0 in conference play to remain undefeated on the season (7-0). He averaged 19.5 points per game, including 26 against USMMA. He shot 44 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from behind the arch and 78.6 percent at the free throw line. Weidlich also averaged four rebounds per game, two assists per game and one steal per game.
This season, Weidlich has started all seven games and is averaging 16.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 30.4 minutes per game. Overall he is shooting 39.5 percent from the floor, 31.3 percent from the three-point range and 79.5 percent from the line. He has 14 assists to 11 turnovers and is second on the team with seven steals.
The Crusaders are 7-0 on the year with a 2-0 mark in conference games.
Susquehanna returns to action on Friday, Dec. 11 at King's College as the team faces Trinity (Conn.) in the first round of the First National Community Bank/Monarch Classic at 6 p.m.
