SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna University men's basketball team improved to 8-1 on the year with a 82-65 victory over LaGrange (7-3) on Sunday evening at La Salle High School in Miami Florida. The River Hawks have now extended their win streak to eight.
Junior Ryan Traub posted his third double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Steven Weidlich had a game-high 26 points, and shot 58 percent from the field. Fellow senior Jason Dietrich had a season-high 14 points and added eight rebounds. Tyler Hoagland dished out a team-high eight assists and contributed with seven rebounds.
The game started off with each team going back and forth. Dietrich hit two three pointers in the first seven minutes to give the River Hawks a 13-7 lead at the 13 minute mark stretching the lead to six. Susquehanna closed out the first half with a 9-0 run and took a 37-22 into the break.
Susquehanna stretched the lead in the second half scoring ten quick points. Weidlich would hit a three pointer at 6:27 to give them their largest lead of the game, 70-49. Susquehanna went on to win comfortably by 17 points.
The River Hawks shot 47.1 percent from the floor compared to the Panthers' 31.4 percent. Susquehanna shot 42.1 percent from the three-point line to their 29 percent. LaGrange, who entered the game averaging 81.8 points per game, was held to a season-low 65 points. Susquehanna outrebounded LaGrange 52-41.
Susquehanna returns to action on December 20th against Eastern at the D3 Holiday Shootout at Miami Florida's La Salle High School.
