Another Win has SU Leaving Miami on a High Note

MIAMI, FL - Junior Ryan Traub, senior Steve Weidlich and sophomore Tyler Hoagland combined for 56 points as the Susquehanna University men's basketball team wrapped up its trip to Miami with an 82-76 win over Eastern University Tuesday night at Miami, Florida's La Salle High School in the D3 Holiday Shootout. 

Traub finished with 22 points and eight rebounds while Weidlich scored 19 to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Hoagland added 15 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three steals as Susquehanna finished the D3 Holiday Shootout 2-0. The River Hawks go home for Christmas break on a nine-game win streak.

Eastern led by two points at halftime and by one with 16:03 remaining in the second half but the River Hawks went on a 16-4 run over the next seven minutes as Susquehanna took a 10-point lead with less than 10 minutes remaining. Susquehanna led by as much as 12 in the second half as Eastern could only cut the lead down to six with 2:41 to go. Susquehanna hit all 10 of its free throws in the final 1:25 to put the game away.

Senior Dalton Reichard scored eight points with three assists and freshman Zach Knecht had eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Senior Danny Weiss and junior Adam Dizbon scored five points apiece to account for all 10 bench points.

The River Hawks were able to get out in the open court as it scored 14 fast break points to Eastern's zero and had 17 points off 11 Eastern turnovers.

Susquehanna shot 46 percent from the field as Eastern hit 38 percent of its shots from the field. The River Hawks had more than double the free throw makes as it made 21-of-29 while Eastern hit 10-of-16.

Susquehanna is off until the New Year as it gets back on the court on Tuesday, January 3 at 7 p.m. when it heads to Dickinson for a non-conference matchup.
