Men's Basketball Edges Nationally Ranked No. 13 Richard Stockton, 69-66, to Win Monarch Classic

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's sophomore guard
and tournament MVP Spenser Spencer (Seattle,
Wash./Lakeside) recorded game-highs of 24 points and four
steals to lead Susquehanna past nationally ranked No. 13 The
Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, 69-66, in a non-conference
men's basketball championship game of the Ramada Inn/Monarch
Classic at King's College (Pa.)'s McGrane Gymnasium on Dec. 12.
Spencer made 10 of 20 shots from the field,
including four of 12 from three-point distance. He averaged
20.0 points per game and made eight three-pointers during the
Monarch Classic en route to MVP honors.
Susquehanna (5-3 overall) trailed for the first 3 minutes, 35
seconds of this game before taking its first lead at 11-9. Richard
Stockton (6-3 overall) was able to force two ties after Susquehanna
took the lead, but that's the closest that the game would get,
as SU went into the half up, 42-40.
SU recorded its fourth straight game with at least 10
three-pointers made, draining 10 of 25 attempts against Richard
Stockton.

J.T. Wilson (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII
Regional) grabbed a game-high-tying nine rebounds and
chipped in nine points on 3-for-8 shooting from long range.
Wilson averaged 10.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per
game in the tournament.
Teammate and senior guard Bryan Majors (Harrisburg,
Pa./Harrisburg) dished out a game-high-tying four assists
against the Ospreys and also scored five points.
The Crusaders started the second half with a 7-0 run over the
first 1:45 and slowly built their biggest lead to 11 points at
62-51 with 10:06 remaining. Richard Stockton was able to
cut the score to 68-66 with just over a minute left
but a missed three-pointer and two missed foul shots after that
ended the day for the Ospreys.
Richard Stockton was led by junior guard Michael Farrow
(Whitesboro, N.J./Middle Twp.), who notched a team-high 18 points
on 7-for-9 shooting from the field. Teammate and fellow junior
guard Kai Massaquoi (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) tied game-highs
of nine boards and four assists to go along with nine
points, including perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the free-throw
line. Sophomore guard Pat Kelly (Cape May, N.J./Wildwood Catholic)
posted a team-best three steals.
Albright College (7-1 overall) defeated King's (2-7 overall),
71-70, in the Monarch Classic consolation game.
