Men's Swimming Tops McDaniel, 157-97

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's freshman Griffin Kearney (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) was all or part of the fastest times in four events to help lead Susquehanna (2-0) past visiting McDaniel College (0-1), 157-97, in a men's meet at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex swimming pool on Oct. 31.
Kearney took first place in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races with times of 22.64 seconds and 50.41 seconds, respectively. He also teamed with junior Colin Sullivan (Westfield, N.J./Westfield), sophomore James Strande (Cedar Knolls, N.J./Whippany Park) and freshman Chadd Lee (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) to win the 200 medley relay in 1 minute, 43.39 seconds and partnered with Lee and freshmen Robert Ries (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and Lars Bogar (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) to swim the fastest 200 free relay (1:34.04).
Sullivan also won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes with times of 1:02.69 and 2:21.08, respectively, while Lee claimed first place in both the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly in times of 58.09 and 55.56 seconds, respectively.
Susquehanna's freshman Taylor Cole (Danville,
Pa./Danville Area) placed first in two events---the 200
and 500 frees in 1:50.71 and 5:10.31, respectively.
Strande won the 200 back in a time of 2:07.47,
while junior Alex Willcox (Dresher, Pa./Upper
Dublin) touched first in the 200 fly with a time of
2:05.54.
Strande also posted the fastest time in the 200
individual medley (2:07.80).
