Men's Tennis Closes Out Fall Season with 6-3 Victory Over St. Mary's (Md.)

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The Susquehanna University men's tennis team
won its fall-season finale against the visitors of St. Mary's
College of Maryland, 6-3, in a non-conference match at the James W.
Garrett Sports Complex on Oct. 12.
Freshman Michael Hickey (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth)
won a straight-sets match at second-flight singles for Susquehanna
(2-3 overall), 7-5, 6-3, over his St. Mary's (5-2 overall)
opponent.
Fellow freshman Richard Fitzsimmons (Brielle, N.J./Lommis
Chaffee, Conn.) was a straight-sets winner from
third-flight, 7-5, 7-5, while sophomore Matthew Quadrini
(Escondido, Calif./Brunswick, Maine) claimed
fourth-flight, 7-5, 7-5. Teammate and sophomore Alec Green
(Media, Pa./Strath Haven) recorded a straight-sets victory
at fifth-flight, 6-4, 6-0. Junior Bruce Osborn (Sayre,
Pa./Sayre Area) recorded the final straight-sets victory
from the sixth flight, 6-1, 6-3. Osborn is now 3-0
in singles for his collegiate career.
Fitzsimmons and Hickey earned a
doubles point for SU, dropping their first-flight Seahawks
opponents, 8-5.
