Thistle Hits NCAA Provisional Mark at Bucknell's Bison Open and Multi
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's men's indoor
track & field team participated in the Bison Open and Multi at
Bucknell University's Gerhard Fieldhouse from Jan. 29-30. There was
no team scoring.
SU senior Paul Thistle (Blue Bell,
Pa./Wissahickon) led the way by finishing second out of 45
runners from all three NCAA Divisions in the 5,000-meter run with a
time of 14 minutes, 47.16 seconds.
That time breaks his own school record and provisionally qualifies him for the 2009-10 NCAA Division III indoor championships.
Thistle's previous best in the 5,000 was
14:57.20, set at this same meet two years ago.
