DANIELSVILLE, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's golf team captured a third-place finish at the 2010-11 Empire 8 Championships. The Crusaders moved up one spot on the final day of competition to break into the top three.

SU finished the four-round championship, the first two rounds of which were played in the fall, with a team score of 1282. St. John Fisher captured the championship title with a four-round score of 1239.

Susquehanna, which entered the final round in fourth place, shot a 321 on Sunday afternoon, the second-best score of the day, behind only St. John Fisher's score of 311.

Freshman Steve Welkie (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) earned a fourth-place overall finish with a cumulative score of 313. He shot an 80 in Sunday's fourth round after posting a score of 79 in the third round.

Joining Welkie in the top 10 was senior Ryan Redfern (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell), who shot a 79 in the fourth round to tie for ninth overall and finished the championship with a four-round score of 321.

Juniors Kevin Willet (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) (330) and Pat DiMartino (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) (338) also finished in the top-25 with 16th and 25th-place efforts, respectively. Adam Puskar (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) earned a 27th overall finish with a cumulative total of 342.
