Men's Golf Places Second in Final Fall Match


ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — Junior John Jaques (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) placed second overall out of 75 golfers, and led Susquehanna to a second place finish out of 14 teams at the Elizabethtown Fall Blue Classic on Oct. 7.

Jaques fired a four-over, 76, on the par-72, 7,009-yard course. He finished just two shots behind the individual leader.

Susquehanna shot a team score of 320, 18 strokes behind Franklin & Marshall, who shot a 312. Gettysburg placed third with a 329.

Two other Crusaders placed in the top 15.

Junior Ryan Redfern (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) tied for seventh overall with a 79, while fellow junior Kevin Willett (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) was one shot behind and tied for ninth with an 80.

Freshman Stephen Welkie (Allentown, Pa./Allenton Central Catholic) and junior Adam Puskar (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) were the other two competitors for the Crusaders. Welkie finished in a tie for 29th with a 85, while Puskar shot an 86 and finished in a tie for 34th.
