SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Volleyball and men’s golf are represented as this week’s Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders as freshman libero Sarah Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa. / Tamaqua Area) and junior Stephen Welkie (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) have been named for the period ending Oct. 7.
Paluck helped the Crusaders (12-14, 1-2) to a 4-1 record during last weekend’s seventh-annual Crusader Classic tournament.
Over the weekend, Paluck played in all 17 sets for SU, tallying 76 digs (4.47/set) and four service aces. She was named to the All-Tournament Team following her performance.
In 2012, she has played in all 95 matches and leads the team with 329 digs (3.46/set). She is third on the squad with 30 service aces.
Welkie helped the men’s golf team to a third-place finish at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic in Abbotstown over the weekend.
Welkie took home the individual title after shooting a two-day total of 146 (+2), highlighted by shooting a 72 on Saturday.
Paluck and the volleyball team host Gettysburg on Wednesday before heading to Moravian for the second Landmark Conference weekend. Welkie and the golf team compete in the final tournament of the fall in the Stevenson Invitational from Saturday to Sunday.
