YORK, Pa. – The Susquehanna men’s golf team earned a sixth-place finish in a 16-team field at the York College Spring Invitational, the first tournament of the spring season for SU.
The Crusaders earned sixth with a team score of 314 (+26) on the par 72, 6100 yard course. Franklin & Marshall won with a score of 290 (+2), followed by Eastern (305, +17), Muhlenberg (306, +18), Dickinson (307, +19) and York (310, +22).
Senior Steve Welkie (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) was SU’s top finisher with a score of 77 (+5) to tie for 17th overall. Daniel Wilson (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) was one shot behind with a 78 (+6), good for a tie for 22nd. Ryan Bruvik (Skillman, N.J./The Hun School) shot a 79 while Donny DeRemer’s (Shavertown, Pa./Holy Redeemer) score of 80 earned him a tie for 35th and Anthony Canarie (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) tied for 50th with an 83 (+11).
The team is next in action when the Crusaders host the SU Spring Invitational on April 1.
