SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna senior men’s golfer Stephen Welkie (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) leads the Glenmaura National College Invitational after round one while the Crusaders stand fifth overall as a team at the two-day tournament.
Welkie shot a 73 on day one to stand alone at the top of the leaderboard. SU shot 316 as a team on the par 71 course.
Daniel Wilson (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) stands tied for 19th after the first round after shooting an 80. Teammate Kevin Phelan (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte County Day School) is tied for 23rd with his score of 81 with Anthony Canarie (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) just one shot behind (82). Dylan Gladd (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) shot an 89 on the day.
The two-day invitational comes to a close on Monday afternoon.
