HERSHEY, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's golf team sits in fifth place after the third round of the 2014 Empire 8 Men's Golf Spring Championship on Friday afternoon at the Hershey Country Club East Course.

The Crusaders shot 335 on the par 71, 6653 yard course, bringing their three-round score to 955 (+103).

No. 8-ranked St. John Fisher leads the way at 902 followed by Scranton (927), Elmira (949) and Stevens (954).

Senior Steve Welkie (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) led the team with a low round of 81 (+71) and is currently tied for eighth place. Sophomore Dan Wilson (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills Regional) followed with an 82 (+11).

Classmate Dylan Gladd (Rensselaer, N.Y. / Columbia) turned in an 86 (+15) and is sitting at 20th overall. Junior Donny DeRemer (Shavertown, Pa. / Holy Redeemer) shot a 91 (+20) and classmate Kevin Phelan (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte County Day School) recorded an 88 (+17).

Senior Anthony Canarie (South Portland, Maine / South Portland) rounded out the scoring for SU with an 86 (+15), good for 30th overall.

The final round of the 2014 Empire 8 Spring Championship will wrap up tomorrow, starting at 11:00 a.m.
