ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Susquehanna men’s golf team took fourth place at the 2013 Empire 8 Fall Championship, hosted by Elmira College.
St. John Fisher was first with a two-day score of 606 (+38) on the par 71, 6792-yard course. Scranton was second with a 615, followed by Elmira (618) and the Crusaders (320), who shot a 306 on Sunday after shooting a 314 in Saturday’s round.
Susquehanna’s Ryan Bruvik (Skillman, N.J./The Hun School) was the team’s top finisher as he tied for sixth. Bruvik posted a two-round total of 152 after shooting an 80 on Saturday, followed by a 72 on Sunday, the lowest round of the weekend by any golfer.
Stephen Welkie (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) took ninth with a combined score of 153 (78, 75), followed by Dylan Gladd (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia), who tied for 16th with a two-round score of 157 (78, 79).
Donny DeRemer (Shavertown, Pa./Holy Redeemer) shot a 161 (78, 83) and Kevin Phelan (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte County Day School) finished with a two-day score of 168 (87, 81). Anthony Canarie (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) rounded out the grouping by shooting a 174 (94, 80).
The team returns to action on Sept. 29 when the Crusaders host their annual Susquehanna Invitational at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club.
