The Susquehanna University Men's Golf team finished in a tight battle between four teams for sixth place Thursday at the Stevenson Invitational as the River Hawks scored a 66 over par 350 score to capture ninth place at the Piney Branch Golf Club in Upperco, Maryland.
The sixth through ninth place teams finished within a span of five strokes as Eastern took sixth with a 345 (+61), Concordia B was on stroke back at 346 (+62), Widener was eighth at 348 (+64) and the River Hawks took ninth.
Stevenson won the team title shooting a 27 over par 311. Concordia A was second with a +31 315, Messiah was third at +44, 328, Albright was fourth with a +46, 330 and the Stevenson B team was fifth with a +50, 334. Hood was the tenth place team with a +80, 364.
Alex Wager led Susquehanna with a +14, 85 in a tie for 22nd. Rob Johnson and William McCafferty finished in a tie for 27th place each scoring +17, 88 while Steven Jumper and Matt Schaffner were in a tie for 35th position with +18, 89 scores.
The River Hawks will finish the season at the National Invitational Tournament Sunday and Monday at the Glenmaura CC.
