Brandon Cassidy captured fifth place and Connor White was four shots back in a tie for ninth place leading the Susquehanna University Men's Golf team to a fifth place team finish Tuesday afternoon in the Penn College Fall Invitational at the Williamsport Country Club in Williamsport.
Cassidy shot an eight-over par 79 to finish alone in fifth place in the final individual standings and just two shots out of third place. White was four shots back with a 12-over par 83 and tied with four other golfers for ninth place.
The duo helped the River Hawks to a fifth place finish with a final team score of +67, 351. Susquehanna was two strokes out of fourth place and four strokes away from a third place finish.
Rutgers-Camden won the tournament with a +33, 317 score and finished one stroke ahead of host Penn College who took second with a +34, 318. The Penn College B squad was third (+63, 347) and the second group from Rutgers-Camden was fourth (+65, 349).
Susquehanna was fifth and finished ahead of SUNY Morrisville, Penn St. Abington, Lycoming and Widener in the final team standings.
Rob Johnson was the third finisher for Susquehanna as he tied for 20th position with a +17, 88, Morgan Fisher was next for the River Hawks in 36th place with a +30, 101 and Chris Cahill rounded out the scoring for Susquehanna with a +32, 103.
The event was the final competition of the fall for the River Hawks and the team will continue the season in the spring.
