Susquehanna senior John Jaques (Easton, Pa. / Easton Area) finished 13th overall out of 48 golfers at the first round of the 2011 Empire 8 Championships, held at Yahnundasis Golf Club on Sept. 17-18. As a team, SU finished the weekend in fifth place.

Susquehanna golfer Stephen Welkie was named the Empire 8 Men’s Golf Rookie of the Year on Monday afternoon. The honor also earned him a spot on the First Team while teammate Ryan Redfern, a senior, was named to the Second Team.
