Men's Lacrosse Falls at Catholic, 11-7

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Susquehanna University's sophomore attack Dustin Breakey (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) notched a game-high-tying four goals, but visiting Susquehanna lost to The Catholic University of America, 11-7, in a Landmark Conference men's lacrosse game at Cardinal Stadium on April 17.

Breakey scored three of his four goals in the first half, each assisted by a different SU player. His final goal was tallied with 11 minutes, 17 seconds left in the third quarter on an assist from sophomore midfielder Billy Spack (Arlington, Va./Yorktown). Breakey now has a team-high 26 goals this season.

Susquehanna (6-6, 1-3 Landmark) led Catholic (9-2, 2-1 Landmark), 2-1, after the first quarter but fell behind, 5-4, at halftime. SU knotted the game back up at 6 with the final period to go, but the Cardinals scored five times in that final frame to come away with the victory.

SU's freshman attack Sean Ledwick (Weston, Conn./Weston) scored the first goal of the game just 3:07 into regulation off a pass from freshman midfielder Marcus Cheatham (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola HS). Cheatham also picked up a team-high three groundballs.

With five minutes left in the second period, sophomore midfielder Jake Griffith (Wye Mills, Md./Easton) dished out his third assist of the year on the second tally by Breakey.

Crusaders sophomore attack Tim Pastore (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and sophomore midfielder Luke Delavan (Madison, N.J./Madison) each registered a goal and an assist in the loss. Pastore assisted on the first Breakey goal, while Delavan dished out his assist on Breakey's third score with 2:33 left in the second quarter.

SU's junior midfielder Ryan Oakes (North Yarmouth, Maine/Cheverus) won a team-high six faceoffs.

Crusaders sophomore Jordan Daney (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Merion) stopped nine shots in the first 19:40 of the game before being replaced by freshman Will Torrence (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven). Torrence suffered the loss in net, playing the final 40:20 and making nine saves as well.

Susquehanna was outshot by the Cardinals, 48-25, and lost the ground-balls battle, 17-12.
