Box Score

SCRANTON, Pa. – A solid performance on both ends of the field from the Susquehanna men’s lacrosse team gave the Crusaders a 9-5 win at Scranton on Saturday afternoon. The victory was SU’s first Landmark win of the season and marked the team’s second-straight victory.

With the win, Susquehanna improved its overall record to 7-5 and 1-2 in conference play.

The Crusaders gave up just five goals, including none in the first quarter and only one in the final quarter. Goalie Jordan Daney (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Merion) recorded 12 saves with eight coming in the opening half.

Offensively, SU was led by Dustin Breakey’s (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) four goals. Freshman Billy Spack (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) chipped in two goals and an assist while Luke Delavan (Madison, N.J./Madison) recorded a game-high four assists to go along with one goal.

Susquehanna netted two first-quarter goals less than two minutes apart. Spack got the scoring started with 8:55 on the clock, and with 7:35 remaining in the quarter, Breakey netted his first goal of the afternoon to make it 2-0.

Breakey again found the back of the net less than midway through the second quarter before the Royals (5-7, 1-2) scored back-to-back goals to quickly cut SU’s lead to 3-2.

The Crusaders ended the half with two unanswered scores of their own, though, to take a 5-2 advantage at halftime.

Each team scored twice in the third quarter as SU maintained a three-goal lead (7-4) heading into the final period. Breakey provided his team two insurance goals less than 30 seconds apart in the fourth quarter as SU went ahead by a game-high five goals (9-4) and went on to the eventual 9-5 victory.
