Warburton Grabs Defensive Player Award

MADISON, N.J. – Susquehanna men’s lacrosse player Jimmy Warburton (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was tabbed the Landmark Conferences Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Crusaders to a 2-0 week on the road. It marks the first weekly honor of the season for the senior captain.

Warburton and SU defeated Marywood 13-10 in their first game of the week before taking down Drew 10-7 on Saturday as the team improved to 9-5 on the season.

Warburton started both games and finished the week with seven ground balls and six caused turnovers. He picked up four of those ground balls and three caused turnovers in the win at Marywood as the Pacers scored just one fourth-quarter goal. At Drew, he caused three more turnovers as the Rangers scored just one goal in both the first and final quarters of the game.

The only player on the team to start all 14 games this spring, Warburton had 38 ground balls, second on the team, to go along with a team-high 12 caused turnovers. He also has one goal to his credit.

SU is back in action on Tuesday when the team hosts Hood at 7 p.m. in its final non-conference game of the season. The contest will be streamed live on GoSusQu.com.
