Men’s Lax Names 2012 Captains
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna head
men’s lacrosse coach Stewart Moan has announced the selection
of his four captains for the 2012 season. Two seniors,
Billy Spack (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and
Trae Humphreys (Wilmington, Del./Sanford), and two
juniors, Marcus Cheatham (Reisterstown,
Md./Loyola) and Dave Rinaldi (Rinaldi,
Mass./Boston College HS), will carry the responsibility of
leading their Crusader teammates on and off the field.
Humphreys, who is returning for his second year
as a captain, will lead the team at the draw this year. Last season
Humphreys had a .538 winning percentage and is expected to take the
majority of the face-offs this season.
Spack returns as the team’s third-leading
scorer from last year. Spack played in all 17 games last season and
had 37 points. He has been a three year starter and will be a major
impact player again this season.
Like Humphreys, Cheatham is also returning as a
second year captain. Cheatham is an accomplished player, receiving
All-Conference status his freshman and sophomore seasons. He was
also the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year in 2010.
Rinaldi will return as the leader and top
coverage defenseman for the 2012 season. Rinaldi is an outstanding
defensive player who will have the responsibility of covering the
opponents’ best attackmen.
Susquehanna will open the 2012 season, one filled with strong
opponents, on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Lycoming. The Crusaders return
to Sassafrass Field for their first home game on Wednesday, Feb. 29
against Muhlenberg.
