SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Men’s lacrosse junior midfielder Marcus Cheatham (Reisterstown, Md. / Loyola) has been chosen as the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending March 25.
Cheatham helped the Crusaders (5-4, 1-0) to a 2-0 record last week with a non-conference home victory over Immaculata (19-7) and a road conference win at Merchant Marine (14-9).
He picked up three ground balls against the Mighty Macs and helped the SU defense limit Immaculata to seven goals on 39 shots.
Against the Mariners, he aided the Crusader defense by holding USMMA to nine goals on 30 shots. He registered four ground balls in the contest, giving him seven for the week.
Thus far in 2012, Cheatham has scored two goals and two assists for four points. He has a team-high 34 ground balls and is tied for second on the squad with five caused turnovers.
Cheatham and the Crusaders travel to Albright on Wednesday for a non-conference game starting at 4:00 p.m.
