SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Men’s lacrosse and women’s tennis are represented in this week’s SAAC Super Crusader Awards as senior attack Dustin Breakey (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and senior Julia Lerner (Arlington, Va. / Washington-Lee) have been honored for the week ending April 22.
Breakey scored a team-high four goals and registered one assist for five points in the Crusaders’ 14-11 loss at Catholic last Saturday. He fired seven shots and picked up one ground ball in the loss.
This season, Breakey has started 10 of the 12 contests in which he has appeared and is second on the squad in goals (26), assists (19) and points (45). He has three game-winning goals and 18 ground balls. His .787 shots on goal percentage is the best among starters on the team.
Breakey has led his team to an 8-7, 3-3 record as they travel to Hood on Friday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. for a non-conference game.
Lerner helped SU defeat Landmark Conference foe Drew 5-4 on Saturday to clinch the number one seed in the conference playoffs. She won at number one singles 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 and was victorious in her doubles match with partner Jessica Klinger 8-6. This season, Lerner is 7-8 at first singles and 5-8 in doubles competition.
The Crusaders defeated Moravian in the Landmark Conference Semifinals on Tuesday afternoon 5-4. SU hosts the University of Scranton on Saturday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the conference championship, marking the first time Susquehanna is in the title match.
