Berg, Spangler Named Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Men’s lacrosse and women’s track are represented as the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the period ending March 30 with freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Berg (Chester, N.J. / Mendham) and senior sprinter Eryn Spangler (Dover, Pa. / Dover) recognized.

Making his second career start, Berg played all 60 minutes and recorded 13 saves as the Crusaders (5-5, 2-0 Landmark) defeated  Merchant Marine Academy 7-6 at King’s Point, N.Y. on Saturday. Berg recorded four saves in the final nine minutes of the contest and faced 46 shots during the duration of the game.

This season, Berg has appeared in four games with two starts and has a 5.27 GAA with a .705 save percentage. The freshman is 2-0 with 31 saves.

Berg and SU travel to Hood on Wednesday, April 2 at 4 p.m. before hosting Landmark Conference opponent Goucher on Saturday, April 5 at 1 p.m.

Spangler, meanwhile, set the school record in the 400 at Saturday’s 30th-annual Jim Taylor Invitational. The senior placed first with her time of 58.26, the best mark in the Landmark Conference this season.

In addition, the senior was a member of the second place 4 x 400 team that posted a time of 4:12.71, also the top mark in the Landmark this year.

Spangler and the SU track & field team host the Crusader Outdoor Classic on Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m.
