SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna head men's lacrosse Stewart Moan announced his captains for the upcoming 2015 season. Two seniors – Conor Boyland (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) and Carmen Raroha (Voorhees, N.J./Bishop Eustace) – and junior Corrie Van Haasteren (Raymond, Maine/Hebron Academy) will carry the responsibility of leading their Crusader teammates on and off the field.
Boyland will lead the defensive midfield unit and returns as a starter at the short-stick defensive midfield position. Last season, Boyland scooped up 27 ground balls and scored two goals for the Crusaders. Boyland has great speed and defensive skills that make him a valuable asset to the team.
Raroha returns to lead SU on the offensive end of the field. Raroha has played in 51 career games and has accumulated 47 points, including 24 points (11 g, 13a) last year. Raroha is a talented, athletic player who has improved each year and will definitely be a strong presence on the offensive side of the field.
Van Haasteren serves as the only junior captain for the upcoming season. Van Haasteren earned First-Team All-Landmark honors in 2014 and looks to continue that success as the leader in the defensive end. Van Haasteren is an outstanding defensive player will have the responsibility of covering the opposing teams' best attackmen.
Susquehanna opens the 2015 season at home against local rival, Lycoming College, on Sunday, Feb. 22 at Sassafras Field.
