Two in a Row for Men’s Lacrosse

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – It's a 2-0 start to the 2015 season for the Susquehanna men's lacrosse team as the Crusaders picked up an 11-7 win at King's on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Reardon (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) and Carmen Raroha (Voorhees, N.J./Bishop Eustace) both had trick hats with each also chipping in an assist. Greg Budd (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) added two goals as a total of five different SU players scored at least one goal in the game.

Goalie Jared Knowlton (North Salem, N.Y./Kent School) finished with 13 saves over his 60 minutes of action.

The Crusaders' defense forced 19 Monarchs turnovers and edged King's 43-25 in total shots.

It was actually the Monarchs that scored first, accounting for the only two goals of the first quarter to lead 2-0 after 15 minutes of play.

It was a completely different story in the second quarter as Susquehanna scored six goals to King's one. Reardon scored the first two goals of the quarter to tie the game at two and Raroha's score at the 4:53 mark of the period made it a 3-2 Crusader advantage. The team would not trail for the remainder of the game and SU went into halftime leading 6-3.

King's made it a two-goal game (7-5) by scoring the final goal of the third quarter with 2:12 on the clock but Susquehanna netted three unanswered goals to open the fourth quarter. Phil Lapone's (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) goal with 1:17 remaining made it an 11-7 game sealed the win for SU.

The Crusaders next travel to Randolph-Macon on March 3 for a 4 p.m. game.
