ASHLAND, Va. – The Susquehanna men's lacrosse team is off to a 3-0 start following Tuesday's 8-6 win at Randolph-Macon. The 3-0 start is the best since the team won three straight to open the 2011 season.

Susquehanna scored two goals in the first eight minutes of the game before Randolph-Macon countered with two goals over a 77-second span to tie the game at two as the first quarter came to a close.

The Yellow Jackets went ahead on a goal at the 10:21 mark of the second quarter but Corrie Van Haasteren (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) scored a mere 13 seconds later to make it 3-3 with 10:08 still to play.

It remained 3-3 until Randolph-Macon's Nick Benhoff scored with just 1:02 left in the half to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 lead at the midway point of the game.

The Crusaders scored the opening two goals of the third quarter with McLaughlin's tying the game at four and Phil Lapone's (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) score at the 7:17 mark putting SU up 5-4.

Randolph-Macon tallied the final goal of the quarter to knot the game at five. The Yellow Jackets then regained a one-goal lead when Jacob Edwards scored an unassisted goal with 12:25 on the clock in the final quarter of the game.

The Crusaders responded by netting three unanswered goals, the first two coming from Calder with his second goal proving to be the game winner, making it 7-6 in favor of SU.
