Men’s Lacrosse Surrenders Early Lead in Loss to Goucher

James Harabedian and Andrew Porzio each scored goals for the Susquehanna University Men's Lacrosse team as the River Hawks took an early 2-0 lead but Goucher battled back with nine consecutive goals on its way to a 10-4 win Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game on Beldon Field in Towson, Maryland.

Susquehanna (9-5 overall, 1-3 Landmark) led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter but Goucher (4-7, 1-2) scored all five goals in the second quarter to take a 6-2 lead into the halftime intermission.

In the third quarter, the Gophers continued their run with two more goals in the third quarter and one more to start the fourth quarter before Alec Tzaneteas finally stopped the run at the 7:40 mark of the final period with a man-up goal.

Goucher scored its final goal at the 5:00 mark and Porzio scored his second of the game with four seconds remaining to cap the scoring.

Porzio and Tzaneteas had two points each as Porzio scored twice and Tzaneteas added a goal and an assist for his two points.

Dylan Abplanalp made seven saves and Josh Weaver added two as he played the final three minutes of the contest.

The River Hawks held a slim 34-32 edge in shots including a 25-12 lead in the second half.

Susquehanna returns home for Senior Day next Saturday against Scranton with a 1 p.m. start before closing the regular season on the road at Drew the following Saturday.
