SELINSGROVE, Pa.—Volleyball and men’s soccer are represented as this week’s Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders as junior middle hitter Hayley Dunkel (Pottsville, Pa. / Pottsville Area) and senior midfielder Andrew Murphy (Natick, Mass. / Natick) have been selected for the period ending Oct. 6.
After guiding Susquehanna’s volleyball team to a 2-0 record in the first Landmark Conference Round Robin tournament of 2013, Dunkel was subsequently named the conference’s Player of the Week for the second time this season, as she was also honored for the week of Sept. 9.
This past week, Dunkel helped the Crusaders (20-4, 2-0 Landmark) to victories over Penn State Berks, Scranton and Goucher as SU defeated all three opponents by 3-0 scores.
The junior appeared in and started all nine sets, recording 21 kills (2.33 kps) with a .340 attack percentage, four service aces, six digs and four total blocks.
This year Dunkel has appeared in 82 of 83 sets and leads the squad with a .319 attack percentage and 70 total blocks (.85 bps) while recording 169 kills (2.06 kps), 44 digs and nine service aces.
Dunkel and SU travel to California this weekend with matches against Pomona Pitzer, No. 21 Claremont Mudd-Scripps and Whittier.
Murphy, meanwhile, scored the game-winning goal at conference foe Drew on Saturday (W, 2-1) in the 26th minute as the senior registered five shots with two being on goal.

This season, Murphy has started all 10 matches for the Crusaders and is tied for the team lead with eight points. Murphy is second on the team with three goals, tied for second with two assists and leads the squad with 30 shots (11 on goal).
This week, Murphy and SU travel to Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday before hosting conference opponent Catholic on Saturday at 12 p.m. Murphy and his classmates will be honored in a pre-game ceremony for Senior Day.
