Men’s Soccer Blanked by No. 12 Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. – The Susquehanna men's soccer team could not overcome a strong offensive performance by No. 12 Rutgers-Camden, falling 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in the final day of the Cialella Soccer Classic, hosted by the Scarlet Raptors.

The Crusaders (2-2-1) had just seven shots all evening while Rutgers-Camden (3-2) took 23, more than half of which were on goal (12). This prompted SU goalie Zach Zoller (Wall Township, N.J./Wall) into making eight saves in his 90 minutes of play.

Gannon Keller (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area/Bloomsburg) accounted for nearly half his team's shots with a team-high three.

The game started out with three goals in 15 minutes; unfortunately, all three of those goals were by Rutgers-Camden. The Scarlet Raptors' Mike Ryan had racked up a hat trick with three goals by the 15:16 mark of the half.

The Susquehanna defense buckled down, though, and did not give up another goal for the remaining 30 minutes of the half.

The Scarlet Raptors continued to be shut out until just 14 minutes remaining in the game when Jacob Kwami scored in the 77th minute to make it 4-0. SU, though, was held to just four shots all half, only one of which was on goal, as Rutgers-Camden's lead was never truly threatened.

The Crusaders next face Misericordia in a road game on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
