Souza, Lima Honored as Landmark Athletes of the Week

TOWSON, Md. - The Susquehanna men's soccer team swept the Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week for the period ending Set. 14, as forward Pedro Souza [Sao Paulo, Brazil / Gunnery School (Conn.)] was named Offensive Athlete of the Week and goalkeeper Augusto Lima (Campinas, Brazil / Mercersburg Academy) was honored as the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

The Crusaders went 1-0-1 on the week with a 3-0 win over Misericordia on Wednesday and a 0-0 tie at York (Pa.) on Saturday. SU has five shutouts in seven games this season.

Souza found the back of the net twice in the win at Misericordia, scoring consecutive goals in the 49th and 84th minutes to seal the win for Susquehanna.  

Lima improved to 2-0-1 as he posted two shutouts in 200 minutes of play. He made two saves at Misericordia and six against York (Pa.), including a diving stop in the 84th minute that helped send the game to overtime.

The Crusaders travel to Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Sept. 17 for a nonconference game scheduled for 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, SU returns home to begin its search for a third-straight Landmark title with a 1 p.m. match against conference foe USMMA.
