SAAC Team of the Week Spotlight: Men’s Soccer

Beginning this 2014-15 academic year, Susquehanna's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will highlight one or two varsity Crusader teams each week. The purpose is to give fans an in-depth look at a team's season so far, what is on the horizon for each team as well as some standout individual performances by members of each squad.

The Team of the Week Spotlight continues with men's soccer. The Crusaders host Catholic this weekend for Senior Day.

How Do They Look?
The 2014 fall season has not been easy for the Crusaders. Coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, SU was selected to finish second in the 2014 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll.

Unfortunately, a second-place finish is not in the cards for Susquehanna as the team is still in search of its first Landmark win of the season. In addition, the team will wind up playing just seven of its 19 games at home this fall versus 13 home contests a year ago.

The Crusaders do boast five shutouts, this year, though, and opened the season with a 2-1-1 record.

What's Coming Up?
SU hosts Catholic on Oct. 25 for Senior Day. Following Saturday's game, the Crusaders wrap up their season on Nov. 1 with a 1 p.m. road game at Goucher.

Faces in the Crowd
Senior Joe DeLuca leads the team in goals (3) and points (6) while Nick Fecci and David Trank are both tied for second with five points on the season.

All four goalies on the SU roster have taken the field this season with Augusto Lima and Zach Zoller each getting seven starts.

Where and When Can You See Them?
Head to Sassafras Field this Saturday, Oct. 25, for the team's 1 p.m. game against the Cardinals. In addition, there will be a special halftime ceremony to officially dedicate the new scoreboard.
