Men’s Soccer Concludes Season with 1-1 Draw at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. – The regular season came to an end for the Susquehanna men's soccer team on Saturday as the visiting Crusaders tied Goucher 1-1 behind a goal from senior David Trank (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham).

Samuel Tana (Baldwin, Md./St. Paul's) registered the first shot on goal, putting a header toward Goucher keeper Nicholas Stolarz in the seventh minute. Both teams finished with two shots on the goal for the first half though Goucher held an 8-4 advantage in total shots.

SU goalie Augusto Lima (Campinas, Brazil/Mercersburg Academy) made four saves in 110 minutes, including one in the second overtime period, to preserve the tie.

Susquehanna broke the game open in the 68th minute when Trank received a pass from Tana and found the lower right corner of the net for his second goal of the season

It did not take long, however, for the Gophers to equalize when they connected off a corner kick for a goal at 74:29. With the game knotted at one, both teams earned a corner kick before the end of regulation, but neither was able to break the tie.

Trank registered the only shot on goal in the first overtime, though Susquehanna also threatened with a corner kick toward the end of the period.

Goucher held a 12-6 advantage in corners taken, but SU had a narrow 16-14 margin in shots. SU finishes the season with 4-12-3 record, including a 0-7-1 mark in the Landmark Conference.
